Big News ✨ After months of behind-the-scenes dreaming and planning, it's finally time to share: The Fremont Ballet School welcomes The Yoga Haven to share our new home at 1201 Oak Harbor Road. We are creating a carefully thought-out space that will not only foster the love and knowledge of dance, but for yoga as well, through the leadership and direction of Samantha and The Yoga Haven. Two Traditions, One Home. Coming this October, we will continue as two unique businesses who share not only a roof, but a vision for movement that's inclusive, expressive, and deeply rooted in community. Whether you find your breath in a yoga class or balance at the ballet barre, we hope you’ll feel the warmth of this new beginning. It’s a testament to what’s possible when small businesses lift each other up—and when community remains at the heart of every decision. Some of our last pliés at 405 E. State Street 🤍 this space has been so faithful to us and served us so well for so many decades. Countless generations of dancers (including me!) found their love for dance within these walls. The decision to move from this location was not made lightly. In order to grow, change, and serve our community and its youth to the best of our ability, a move was inevitable. Mr. Hillenbrand always wanted what was best for us, and rest assured his spirit, tradition, love, & passion for classical ballet will reside within the Fremont Ballet School, no matter the location of its walls. Hi 👋🏻 allow me to introduce myself! I’m Lily Adams Corso, & Ms. Lily to our wonderful students. I am the owner and Artistic Director of the Fremont Ballet School. I’m the face behind our social media and website, too! Being the owner of FBS is truly a dream, and my students make me so incredibly proud every day. Here’s a little more about me: Lily Adams, of Bellevue, Ohio, is an accomplished graduate of the Fremont Ballet School, who returned to take over the school from her beloved instructor Ernst Hillenbrand in 2019. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance with Business at the University of Akron. At UA, she studied under many exceptional instructors and was able to work closely with professional dance companies from all over the continent. During her time at UA, she performed as a member of the University of Akron Dance Company, among other dance concerts. She was also involved at UA as a choreographer for multiple dance showcases. Ms. Lily, as the dancers call her, has years of teaching experience at the Fremont Ballet School where she founded and directed a summer program beginning in 2016. She also has experience teaching dance in K-12 education, and has guest-taught at many schools of dance around northern Ohio. Lily also choreographs musicals; she has choreographed Old Fort High School’s theater productions since 2020. At the Fremont Ballet School, Ms. Lily teaches Ballet (all levels), and has also taught Jazz, Tap, and Contemporary at FBS. As the Artistic Director of the school, Lily “writes”, choreographs, costumes, and brings to life each performance at FBS with the help of Assistant Director Madame Pietrykowski. Lily is also the Adjunct Instructor of Dance at Heidelberg University. When she’s not teaching dance or managing the ballet school, Lily enjoys reading, cooking, baking, crafting, and spending time with her husband Nick and 3 pets, Lenny, Tuxedo, and Kirby. Lily feels so blessed to be able to continue fostering the love of dance to students in the same place she first fell in love with dance when she was 3 years old. #fremontballetschool #fbs62 #fbs #fremontohiodance #ballet

Instructor spotlight of the day is our incredible Jazz and Contemporary teacher, Sarah Stanley! Miss Sarah is so creative such a talented dancer and choreographer. We are so grateful to have her as a part of our FBS family! More about Miss Sarah: Sarah is originally from Sandusky, Ohio and now lives in Huron. She started dance at age 5 & danced competitively for 12 years. Sarah trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, tap, hip hop, and musical theater and has taught dance for 4 years. Miss Sarah is a 2024 bgsu graduate in graphic design & has a passion for the arts! She enjoys being outdoors, thrifting, hiking, and being creative 🎨 “Teaching at the Fremont Ballet School has redefined what a dance family means to me. I’m truly honored to be part of such a special and inspiring community.” We adore you, Miss Sarah! Teacher spotlight! Today we are featuring our incredible Acrobatic Dance instructor, Mrs. Deb Lohr. Deb is the most wonderful person who is always willing to lend a hand or offer her care and advice. Our students adore Ms. Deb! Learn more about Deb: Deb Lohr is a Fremont, Ohio native. She has been married for 30 years, a mother of eight children, and grandmother of two. She is a homeschool mom and spends much of her time helping in her family business. She loves the great outdoors, and some of her hobbies include hiking, biking, running, and kayaking. She has been teaching acrobatics at the Fremont Ballet School since 2020. Deb trained as a gymnast in her youth, and she is extremely athletic. She absolutely loves working with each one of her dancers, and is so happy that we have expanded our classes at the ballet school to fit 3 different levels of acro dancers to help accommodate all ages and abilities. “It is an honor to teach at the Fremont Ballet School”, Deb says, and we are honored to have her as a teacher! Today we are spotlighting our incredible ballet teacher and assistant director, Madame Liz Pietrykowski! If you know Madame, you know how much of an integral and special role she holds for the Fremont Ballet School. We absolutely adore her and are SO blessed to have her with us 🩵. Read more about Madame! Elizabeth, or “Madame”, as her students lovingly refer to her, has taught classical ballet at the Fremont Ballet School since 1996. She studied ballet under the direction of Marie Vogt with the Toledo Ballet. Madame is a Registered Nurse and is a retired high school teacher. She has 4 wonderful children and 2 grandsons. Madame Pietrykowski teaches pre-ballet and beginner ballet students. She is extremely creative, and has a big hand in creating our spring production each year. Madame’s creative ideas and passion for dance plays a very important role in the life and energy of the Fremont Ballet School! We are so lucky to have had her expert instruction and creative abilities at the ballet school for almost 30 years. New teacher alert 📢 keeping those good announcements rolling! Meet Karla Kash, our brand new Tap instructor for our 2025-2026 season. We are so happy to have her join us! Read more about Ms. Karla and her impressive resume: Karla Kash, she/her, is thrilled to be joining the team at Fremont Ballet School. Karla is the Director of Theatre at Heidelberg University. She has been a full-time theatre educator in higher education for twenty years. She has taught at five universities, having been tenured, promoted to Associate Professor, and been the Chair/Artistic Director of Theatre Programs. Karla has been dancing all her life and started teaching dance at the age of 16. She has taught tap, jazz, hip-hop, and musical theatre dance at the University level and for DanzArts, Johnston Dance Academy, and Des Moines Playhouse, to name a few. Karla is a professional choreographer and has choreographed over 50 musicals for universities, professional theatre companies, and community theatres. Karla has a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from Wright State University with an emphasis in Dance and an M.F.A. in Acting with an emphasis in Movement from Brandeis University. Karla is a member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, Actors’ Equity Association, Society of American Fight Directors, and Intimacy Directors and Coordinators. Karla is certified in Mental Health First Aid and is a strong advocate for mental health awareness and consent in the performing arts. We are so glad to have Ms. Karla join our teaching family this fall! Make sure to register for tap; registration opening soon!
Another ANNOUNCEMENT! Meet Jennifer Rupp, the newest member of our FBS teaching family! We are expanding our Jazz program to students age 6+, so we will now have 3 levels of Jazz. Ms. Jenn will be teaching levels 1 & 2. Learn more about Ms. Jen
Another ANNOUNCEMENT! Meet Jennifer Rupp, the newest member of our FBS teaching family! We are expanding our Jazz program to students age 6+, so we will now have 3 levels of Jazz. Ms. Jenn will be teaching levels 1 & 2. Learn more about Ms. Jenn! Jennifer is a long-time Fremont Ballet School family member. She dreamed of being a ballerina from a young age after seeing the Toledo Ballet’s production of the Nutcracker. She read every single ballerina picture book from the Birchard Library, and after dressing up as a ballerina for Halloween and pretending to be a ballerina at all hours, her mother finally gave in and signed her up for lessons at FBS at age 7. She studied under Madame Novak and Mr. Hillenbrand, earning her pointe shoes and graduating as a company dancer. Jennifer originated the role of the Girl with the Broken Doll in Fremont Ballet School’s first production of Die Puppenfee (The Doll Fairy). She also studied under Madame Vogt with the Toledo Ballet and performed in the Nutcracker with Mr. Hillenbrand. She studied dance and theater at Bowling Green State University where she developed a strong foundation in Kinesiology, Ballet, Jazz, Modern Dance, Dunham Technique, and Tap basics. Jenn previously taught Ballet, Jazz, Modern Dance, Beginning Tap, and HipHop in Huron and Norwalk at The Dance Connection and NorthStar Dance Center. Jenn has choreographed numbers for St Joseph Central Catholic’s Drama Department and Fremont Community Theatre. She also is a Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT-200), earning her training through The Yoga Haven. We are so excited to have Jennifer as a member of our FBS teaching family.
